7 Fun Things to do on your Birthday in Las Vegas

Las Vegas knows how to celebrate – and Las Vegas knows how to party! Whether you’re turning 21, 30, or 70, there are plenty of ways to have an unforgettable birthday in Las Vegas. From parties with your favorite artists at the hottest clubs to grabbing cocktails with friends at the newest cocktail bar, here are seven fun things to do on your birthday in Las Vegas.

1) See a magic show
One of America’s most popular party cities offers an incredible array of entertainment options, including first-rate shows featuring some of the world’s best magicians. Whatever kind of magic you enjoy—sleight-of-hand illusions or grand scale spectacles with music and dancing—you can probably find it here. If you have time for only one show, we recommend David Copperfield at MGM Grand Hotel & Casino. His mystifying act blends masterful sleight-of-hand with cinematic special effects to make a birthday celebration unforgettable. Your server will explain more about our birthday packages upon booking.

2) See a Cirque du Soleil show
Cirque du Soleil is a must-see spectacle for any first-time visitor. With shows happening throughout Las Vegas, there’s sure to be a show that’s perfect for you. You can catch KÀ at MGM Grand or watch O at Bellagio Fountains, with tickets from $50-$180. Get tickets here. If you want something even more unique, check out Le Reve—an aquatic theater performance performed inside of a water tank. Seats start at $129 and come highly recommended by locals and tourists alike. (Hint: bring cash if you want to spend an extra hour swimming in the tanks after! Bonus: if you book early enough, you might get to experience their Champagne brunch package.)For everyone else not aching for luxury and willing to make some sacrifices, Sin City offers plenty of cheap options as well.

3) Do some shopping at the Forum Shops
Shopping is one of my favorite things to do when I’m in Las Vegas, but it’s not usually my birthday activity of choice. The Forum Shops are still a great way to enjoy a day of retail therapy and they even have valet parking. There are dozens of high-end shops here, including Armani Exchange, BCBG Max Azria, Gucci, and Sephora. Toss in gelato at Dolce Italiano Gelateria or pizza from California Pizza Kitchen and you’re good to go! And don’t forget to leave room for some cannolis at The Venetian too!

4) Take a tour of Hoover Dam
There’s a reason why Hoover Dam is one of America’s greatest engineering marvels: it was built during the Great Depression and, at more than 550 feet tall, it’s an astounding feat of engineering. Take a self-guided tour or an official guided tour (which ranges from $25–40) and learn about how it was built and what goes on behind its walled structure. The dam is located near Boulder City, Nevada. The closest major airport is McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas. It can be easily reached by car or shuttle service from most hotels on The Strip.

5) Go Helicopter Flying over the Grand Canyon
There’s only one city where you can fly a helicopter to an American landmark like Grand Canyon and still be able to drink, gamble, eat and stay out all night. That city is, of course, Las Vegas! Celebrate your birthday with a trip that includes both an aerial tour of natural wonder as well as dinner at someplace trendy but less flashy than those on The Strip. Before or after your flight take a stroll through hip Downtown Las Vegas for shopping, restaurants, and bars. For instance, if you are visiting in March or April there will be NASCAR races going on and it might be fun to get tickets to watch them. You can spend hours exploring Ethel M chocolate factory before going out for what they call The Sweetest Hours which are Monday – Friday from 6 pm-9 pm when they have complimentary wine tastings paired with chocolate creations!

6) Take a trip down memory lane at an old school arcade
A great way to get you and your friends back in touch with being young is by getting nostalgic at an old-school arcade. There are plenty of locations around Sin City that are covered from floor-to-ceiling with classic games, giving you a different perspective on how gaming used to be. Even if you’re not competitive about video games, it’s still fun for everyone playing them (and those watching). Give out some quarters and try to hold onto that childhood spirit as long as possible! If you know what you want, book it: Sure, you want to make sure that any activity or service is worth its price tag before committing – but if one particular event has been on your bucket list since birthdays became a thing then don’t wait till tomorrow; secure tickets or rooms today. Only time can tell what kind of expectations will fail to meet reality; spend your day celebrating doing something real and tangible.

7) Go out for dinner with friends
When you think of celebrating your birthday, you probably don’t imagine going out for dinner with friends. But let’s be honest—sometimes a nice meal out with close friends is just what we need. If it’s not too far from home, head to one of your favorite restaurants and enjoy a delicious meal together! Don’t forget about dessert. 😉 You can try a new restaurant for lunch if you want; though keep in mind there might be long wait times as everyone else is getting their food. Just tell them it’s your birthday and offer up your drink order first! Make sure to take photos of all meals that day, because who doesn’t love looking back at great memories?
